Venture Capital & Startup Experience
My extensive involvement in Venture Capital through professional experiences at frog Ventures, Lockstep Ventures, Primary Venture Partners, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Dorm Room Fund has profoundly shaped my approach to product management, business viability, and market success. At frog Ventures, I dedicated significant time to conducting due diligence on startups in diverse sectors including consumer packaged goods (CPG), technology, Web3, healthcare, and e-commerce. This experience has been invaluable in understanding how products and services impact niche markets, a crucial perspective for any product manager and owner.
At Columbia Business School (CBS), I actively led and engaged with the Design and Innovation Community, serving as President of the Columbia Innovation and Design Society.
Additionally, I served as Vice President of the Venture Capital Club, where I collaborated with peers and industry leaders to drive venture capital initiatives and foster a community of innovation and entrepreneurship.
01. Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)
During my tenure as an MBA intern at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), I contributed to the Talent x Opportunity Initiative (TxO), a program dedicated to supporting emerging cultural founders with funding, training, and mentorship. My role involved implementing go-to-market strategies for healthcare biotechnology and e-commerce products, which resulted in a 20% growth in user base.
Key Responsibilities and Achievements:
- Go-to-Market Strategies: I led and designed two 4-week go-to-market, marketing, and social media strategies for the launch of healthcare biotechnology and e-commerce products. These strategies were meticulously crafted to enhance brand visibility, drive user engagement, and ensure a successful product launch.
- Pitch Development: Designed and developed comprehensive pitch strategies and decks for founders in the TxO program. This preparation was pivotal for the final demo-day and showcase at Andreessen Horowitz’s Palo Alto headquarters, effectively informing potential investors about upcoming funding rounds and financial raises.
- Partnership Strategies: Led the development of partnership strategies for founding companies, offering strategic direction on growth/scaling, customer and user research, product development, and pricing. These efforts were crucial in guiding founders through the critical stages of their business development.
- Venture Relationships: Spearheaded the sourcing strategy in support of developing over 15 venture relationships, from prospective deals to investment and equity stages. This involved thorough analysis of the current state of each company’s business model to provide data-driven strategic recommendations.
- Social Media Campaigns: Successfully ran a TikTok campaign that garnered 10,000 followers within three months, significantly boosting the product’s online presence and engagement.
Impact:
My work at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) was instrumental in bridging the gap between innovative startups and potential investors. Through strategic marketing initiatives, pitch development, and partnership strategies, I contributed to the growth and success of several startups within the TxO program. This experience not only enhanced my skills in product management and business strategy but also reinforced the importance of supporting diverse and emerging entrepreneurs in achieving market success.02. frog Ventures
